Results from South Winchester Society Event

Results for South Winchester Golf Club Event

Thanks all for attending the Farnham golf society event at South Winchester golf club on Friday 20th April. Blistering heat on a reasonably long Winchester course led to some around average scores.
Congratulations to Bill Lewington who won with a creditable 37 points with Phil Boyle coming in second with 34 points. You can see the mughot here. Longest drive went to Phil Boyle and Glen Sweet won nearest the pin. Pink ball went to Gareth Sweet with a forgettable 22 points.
The detailed results and financials can be seen in the members area.

Bill will be Captain for the next event at Sonning Golf Club on Friday 18th May.

Phil has kindly offered to enter all players results and stableford scores into an online system which will generate ongoing and accurate handicaps and more importantly, starting handicaps for next season based on all results on all courses we will have played in the 2018 season. The society will pay for the yearly £24.95 fee, if you would like to generate an official handicap after 3 rounds, there is a £15 fee, otherwise there are no extra charges for society members. Thanks to Tux for the suggestion.

Membership update

Thanks to all who have paid subs, that’s 16 players now which is a great start. You can find the list of members on the Society info page. February 14th was the cut off date to pay subs and enabling them to be a member for all six events. This of course entitles members to win prizes at any event and to contribute your scores towards the overall society prize and the special 3 pointer challenge.

However, anyone who joins as a member from now on are more than welcome, however they won’t be eligible for any prizes or contribute any scores to the overall competitions with their scores on the first event – effectively, they’ll be playing as a guest at the Guildford event on 24th April.

As the overall society winner is the player who has amassed the most points from their best four out of six events,  missing one event shouldn’t matter too much – everyone should still be in with a shout, although the 3 pointer challenge winner will be the player with the most stableford birdies scored, no matter how many events they play in.
