Guildford Event 24th April

As of today, there are only 5 players booked in and confirmed for the Guildford event….can you either pop into the pub and put your name down in the blue book behind the bar (and guests if applicable) or call the pub on 01252 344148.
Members do not need to pay any money up front, but if you’re booking in a guest, a non refundable deposit of £35 per guest is required.
We will be confirming definite numbers to Guildford golf club and Sharon at the Alma no later than 4 days before the event, so both parties know how many golfers to cater for, therefore the deadline to put your name down will be Sunday 19th April. If you put your name down and don’t turn up a mandatory £30 donation will be levied!

1st Golf Society Event at Guildford Golf Club

Now is the time to be booking your place for the Guildford event – please do this as soon as you can by putting your name down in the blue book behind the bar at The Alma.

The deadline to put your name down will be Sunday 19th April. These deadlines will be set in stone as we’ll need to inform the courses of exact numbers four days before the event. If you put your name down and don’t turn up a mandatory £30 donation will be levied.

If you are bringing a guest (maximum of 2) please pay a deposit of £35 per guest. This deposit is non-refundable.

Numbers will be limited on most events to 24 (and in some cases 20) players and will be on a first come, first served basis.

Membership update

Thanks to all who have paid subs, that’s 16 players now which is a great start. You can find the list of members on the Society info page. February 14th was the cut off date to pay subs and enabling them to be a member for all six events. This of course entitles members to win prizes at any event and to contribute your scores towards the overall society prize and the special 3 pointer challenge.

However, anyone who joins as a member from now on are more than welcome, however they won’t be eligible for any prizes or contribute any scores to the overall competitions with their scores on the first event – effectively, they’ll be playing as a guest at the Guildford event on 24th April.

As the overall society winner is the player who has amassed the most points from their best four out of six events,  missing one event shouldn’t matter too much – everyone should still be in with a shout, although the 3 pointer challenge winner will be the player with the most stableford birdies scored, no matter how many events they play in.

Web Links to Farnham Golf Society Website

I’ve been looking for relevant websites to place permanent web links to this website, they have to be either community related (i.e societies and clubs), Farnham related or golf related.

I’ve had one approved on the Farnham town Council website but if any of you guys can think of places to advertise the society, either crack on with it or drop me an email with the details.

If any of you are in the Farnham facebook group, you could drop a few links into there if you would. All these inbound links help greatly with the google ranking for this site, effectively moving it to the top of that search engine. At the moment we are on the first page of Google for the search terms ‘Golf society Farnham’.

As this golf society is all of our concern, we should all be doing as much as we can to promote it!

By the way, I’ve also added a plugin to this site that emails all of you whenever I post anything on here….you have no excuse for not knowing what’s happening!

All Events Confirmed for 2015

Please take a look at the Diary page as all events have now been confirmed.

It’s now time to pay your subs….please visit the Alma and pay your £30 to Sharon or Tim who will also take down a couple of other bits of info. Once you’ve done that, I will send you some info via email on how and why you need to register yourself on this site.

Cheers,

Gareth.

Golf Society 2014 – Winners and Prizes

Golf Society Winners during 2014

Just a few random images from  the 2014 golf society after game presentations. Many, many prizes to be won such as longest drive, nearest the pin and overall winner. If you’re local to the Farnham area and would like to get involved with a friendly golf society, playing golf at great local courses, then please contact us and we can explain in more detail what we do, how we’re organised and what you can expect from a golf society membership.

In 2015 we’re playing some really great courses, please see our diary page for details on the dates for our golf days. We’re really looking forward to playing Hayling Island golf course this year as well as re-visiting Hindhead golf club and the really great Basingstoke golf course which we all really enjoyed in 2014.

During the next few days and weeks we’ll be confirming exact dates for the 2015 season and telling you exactly how to reserve your place on these much sought after society days. We’re based at the Alma Pub in Farnham so will more than likely set up a booking system in one central location and the pub is as good a place as any.

Look out for more news and updates posted regularly on this website and information will also be available at the pub. You may even bump into some of the society members in there!
